  Let's just get something straight about 1975.

  nobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.

  in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?

  there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

  need help with books

  i cant seem to get a copy of pentons "apocalyse delayed" or gtr(not the band) anywhere.

  my local bookstore has had gtr on backorder for about a month and its driving me crazy.

  any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  While being an active JW, did you throw away Watchtower literature?

  i remember that magazines and books came in faster than i could read, it was accumulating fast.

  in my first years, i didn't dare throw away anything.

  even later when i was starting to cool down, i still had mountains of books, magazines and brochures.

  We had a fireplace in our house when i was a kid. We also had a huge pile(200-300)of magazines that just couldnt be placed, at least by my family. So my mom and i burned them in the fireplace. I felt pretty bad and told my mom we shouldnt be burning them, she said "theyre just books, theyre not holy" and pitched another bundle on. That was an eye opener for me, since i was always taught to respect the publications. In retrospect, my mom was probably trying to save face by not having anyone else know how crappy we were at FS. Thats one of many things that give me hope concerning my mom.

  What Christian religions do not believe in a burning hell?

  it is my understanding that they are starting to drop this teaching as just a figurative place.

  think about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.

  why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?

  as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.
